You went to the pub with a mate. He brought a mate. You and the new bloke hit it off. You've just nicked a mate — and now there's an app that scores it.
Scan, confirm, claim your points. Provenance on every mate, leaderboards for the serious, and a royalty every time someone nicks one off you.

How it works
Stealing a mate takes four steps and about ten seconds.
Meet one
Your mate brings a mate to the pub. Rookie error on his part.
Nick 'em
Hit it off? Scan their code, tag who you nicked them off. Done in ten seconds.
They confirm
Both parties tap to confirm — no app needed on their end. If they say "yeah, fair", it's official.
Claim the points
Points, provenance and bragging rights. Your old mate even gets a royalty for the introduction. Everyone wins. Mostly you.
House rules
A confirmed steal is worth 10 points. The mate you nicked them off gets a 3-point royalty. You get 5 nicks a day.

Common questions
What is Mate Stealers?
Mate Stealers is a social game and iPhone app that scores what already happens at the pub: you meet a mate's mate, you hit it off, and you nick them. Every steal is confirmed by both people, worth points, and traceable back to whoever made the introduction.
How do you steal a mate?
You scan the new person's code and tag the mate you nicked them off — it takes about ten seconds. Both people then tap to confirm the steal. Once confirmed, the steal is official, the points land, and the provenance is recorded.
Does the other person need the app?
No. The person you nick doesn't need Mate Stealers installed to confirm a steal — they confirm from their phone without downloading anything. Only the person claiming the steal needs the app.
How many points is a steal worth?
A confirmed steal is worth 10 points. The mate you nicked them off gets a 3-point royalty for making the introduction, so both sides of a steal score. You can claim a maximum of 5 steals a day.
What is a nick-back?
A nick-back is when someone steals a mate back off the person who stole them in the first place. Nick-backs are completely allowed in Mate Stealers — no cooldown, no penalty. It is the funniest rule in the game and it is there on purpose.
When is Mate Stealers launching?
Mate Stealers has not launched yet. It is coming to iPhone. Join the launch list on this page and we will email you once — when the app is live.
Can you opt out of Mate Stealers?
Yes. Anyone can opt out of Mate Stealers entirely, including people who have never signed up and have no account. Submit your mobile number on the opt-out page and any record matching it is suppressed, now and in the future.
What does Mate Stealers do with your data?
Before launch, this site collects one thing: the email address you give it for the launch list, used only to tell you when the app launches. No ads, no data selling, no tracking pixels. If someone tags you before you join, you appear by first name only until you confirm.
